Now the next step was to see if God was in on these plans for New Zealand. I told the family and everyone else it was a "God-sized" task to accomplish this job! So many things had to fall into place that we had not control over, only God could accomplish them. First, I had to get a job which occurred on May 20th the evening of our WHS swim banquet. I announced my resignation as head swim coach and rushed to fort collins to a video conference room to have a final interview with OPUS International in Auckland. A week later I received an offer I could not refuse. Next we needed to rent our home. We put it on the internet and had numerous calls (mostly because tornado victims were looking for a place to stay temporarily). The Lord brought the Kemps to use who is one of Maddi's friends from middle school that moved from Florida. They have two girls and our super people to rent our home. Next, we need to find a home for our car and dog. After many days of searching, our dear friends the Norlins were looking for another car since their van was breaking down and Mackenzie just turned 16 and needed a car. Another confirmation from the LORD! Then finding a place for our misfit dog BILL... This was going to be the hardest... I was getting numerous emails from people I didn't even know wanting to take Bill, but many times asking how much money they would get from us... I just didn't feel right about any of them...so we waited on the Lord trusting He would find a perfect home for him, and out of the blue we got a call from Val Yarbro. I sent a request to our church family in Windsor, and Donna Richards got it, comtemplated taking Bill herself (to Kris' schgrin), then she remembered that Val wanted a non-allergenic dog! And another confirmation the Lord was directing our steps was the tornado. Yes, that sounds odd, but the Lord provided through insurance claims extra money from the damage to our car and home allowing us to have a saving for once in our lives that could be used for unforeseen expenses in NZ. Through the advice of others that have made overseas journies (esp. a friend of Scott Queen - who went to Wellington last summer and it cost them $20k to get there...he suggested we just take everything we can on the plane and buy everything else when we arrive)..that is what we are going to do!
