Hello all,
It was Labour day weekend and of course it rained both Saturday and Sunday, but Maddi had
a swim meet and did "fantastic" as they say down under... She had all best times! For all you swimmers here are her times (all LCM): 100 fly 1:25, 200 Breast 3:15, 400 fr 5:11, 800 fr 10:49. Mom and Clark are here from Colorado, and it is great having them here! We have shown them around, and took the to Rangitoto Island on Labour Day which is Monday the 26th of October in NZ. The weather was great! Sue, Ella, Maddi and her friend Manya went shopping while Danny took Andy and his friend Sam to Rangitoto Island. Mom and Clark took the same ferry with us over, then jumped on the "train" to the top. Sam, Andy and I hiked to the top. It is a one hour hike and climbs around 900 feet. You can see for miles, I mean kilometres....You can see Downtown, the Coromandel, and Great Barrier island (see photo). It was a great day! It was the first time Sam had ever been up Rangitoto and he has lived in Devonport his whole life. It reminded Sue and I of growing up in Colorado Springs and never climbing to the top of Pikes Peak until we were teenagers...
We are heading to Turangi on Lake Taupo this weekend and will send pictures.
Hope all is going well in Colorado!
Cheers,
The Evans Fam
