South Island Part 2

Continued pictures of the South Island

Here is our walk to Wharariki Beach
We walked on sand for over 15 minutes with NO SHOES!

Wharariki Beach - West Coast of the South Island
It was gorgeous with clear water, and good waves

Andy did some boogie boarding!
Then we drove to the South to Murchison which is on the Buller River
Andy and I walked over a swing bridge
The girls stayed in the car because there were too many sand flies
Next we drove along the West Coast and stopped at Punakaiki Blow Holes
The West Coast is wild and picturesque
We stayed in Greymouth then drove across the Southern Alps over Arthurs Pass
We were greeted by a flock of Keas (like Camprobbers) that pecked at our bags!
They are fearless and just want your food!

Arthur's  Pass with Viaduct over the Highway (designed by OPUS!)
Next we stopped in Christchurch and went punting (actually canoeing) on the AVON river

Here are the girls in front of some flowers at the Botanic Gardens in Christchurch
Ella at the pool in the Botanic Gardens
Maddi and Andy loved canoeing so much that went kayaking the next day
From Christchurch we headed north to Kaikoura known for sperm whale watching and seal colonies
Andy got this great picture of a seal sleeping...
Then back on the ferry to Wellington

Pictures of Queen Charlotte Sound-It is just spectacular!
