Arrival in New Zealand

We arrived early Thursday morning and it looked like the Clampetts! We had 5 boxes and 13 bags! It was quite a procedure to get through customs and biosecurity. They opened all our boxes to see if we had soil on the bikes, can you believe it! We had three people meet us at the gate to help us get all our stuff to our apartment. A guy from OPUS I’ll be working with, a courier, and David Ireland, the consultant that got me the job. We have been acclimating to the new time zone for the past two days which means going to bed a 5pm and waking up at 3am. We are pushing ourselves to stay up longer every day. Our apartment is luxurious on the 12th floor of a high raise, and caddy corner the Sky Tower. We have watched several people bungy jumping off the Tower a 200m (700ft) plunge. We have not done any touristy stuff as our first priority is to find a place to live! We looked around the North Shore yesterday and really like it. By living downtown we truly realize we are not city people. The downtown feels like Denver. People our up all night long…you can hear screaming, yelling and laughter all night long. We like Takapuna. It reminds us of beach cities like Dana Pt. in Southern California. The temperatures are cool, in the high 50’s with light rain off and on…We just wanted to let everyone we are doing well, everyone is well, PTL! We are going to look at rental units all weekend and hopefully go to Harbourside Church in Takapuna on Sunday. Things are a little overwhelming right now so we are just taking things one day at a time… Cheers from the Land Down Under.
